Job Summary

The Senior Accountant role at Sykes & Company, P.A. is expected to collaborate with Managers and Staff Accountants to ensure client success. Senior Accountants are responsible for ensuring we meet client expectations and deadlines. Senior Accountants should strive to enhance and strengthen the client relationship. Senior Accountants are responsible for the preparation of sales tax, financial statements, 1099s, property tax returns, and payroll addbacks.

Success is defined by:

  • Preparing prepared or compiled financial statements
  • Preparing sales and use tax returns
  • Preparing 1099s, payroll addbacks, property tax returns
  • Reconciling payroll
  • Managing projects and working timely and accurately within client and staff expectations
  • Managing client relationships and assisting as needed with questions and concerns
  • Taking ownership and providing proactive and engaged leadership for the client and team
  • Collaborating with the team and ensuring efficient and effective delivery of accounting processes and procedures using the latest methods and technologies
  • Possessing strong communication skills
  • Ensuring quality control
  • Assisting with special projects and accounting technology beta testing

Key qualifications of an ideal Senior Accountant include:

  • 2-4 year degree, preferably in accounting, business or finance
  • Knowledge of ancillary third party applications with QuickBooks®
  • Strong accounting, analytical, and research skills
  • Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office applications
  • Responsive communication skills
